I really liked that you focused your research on parenting styles. For my senior seminar class we focused our research on helicopter parenting and its effects on college students so it is nice to see more research being done to look at how various parenting styles can effect college students. I was wondering if there was a reason that you did not look at academic success or asked about GPA for the college students, or if you wanted to focus your research more on life adjustment success in college students?

I love that you found the majority of parents were not permissive as it goes against the stereotype of current parenting practices. This is definitely something of interest with Dr. Schiffrin and Dr. Liss and helicopter parenting!

Super interesting study! Were participants classified into one of three categories (permissive, authoritarian, authoritative) or did they get scores for each measure? Also, object relations is an interesting construct. Was that about relationships with others?

This study was very interesting to learn about! As a college student, it made me reflect on the parenting approach I believe my parents had and how it shaped my development in respect to the variables your study included. Did you take into consideration the different types of relationships college age students have with their parents such as not close, still live with them, etc.?

Interesting idea for a study but I am not quite sure what the results show. In one part of the poster you mention a regression but the tables look like the results from an ANOVA.

I enjoyed this presentation. I found it interesting how half of all the participants experience an authoritative parenting style. I also found it interesting how there is greater emotional maturity, object relations, and higher self-control for those authoritative parents.
