This is a very important question – I think psychologists and their understanding of why people make the decisions they do will be critical in addressing the climate crisis. I have a question about your dependent variable. You asked one question about the likelihood of buying an electric car. What was the range of choices? Your Y-axis goes from 0 (which I’m assuming is very unlikely) to 4. Was four the highest possible choice? If so, it looks like everyone was fairly high in wanting to buy an electric car. I know you mentioned in your discussion that age may have been an issue in that people weren’t really thinking about buying cars at all, but could age also be an issue in terms of making it more likely that people would want to buy an electric car regardless of knowledge or condition?

This is an interesting study on an important topic. I wonder if students were less interested in buying an electric car due to the price and/or concerns about access to charging stations. Did you have any questions regarding finances? Could it be that the students who were more informed on the environmental issues are also more informed on the expense of buying an electric car. If price were no object, do you think students would be interested in getting a ‘cooler’ electric car, like a Tesla? Also, young adults are less likely to own a home, so they might not have access to a place to charge their cars overnight.
